My pathetic entry for the ~mythandlegend competition.
This is the 'adopted Aesir', Loki. God of mischief and tricks, he's usually represented by magic and fire, thus the red. I could go on and on about this guy! This is actually a smaller part of a large picture I'm working on, though I'm not even close to finishing it, I still wanted to enter the comp so I took my fav Asgardian and stuck him in the flames of Ragnarok. 0_o In the end, the earth will be set on fire and Loki will lead the Giants into battle against the Aesir, riding at the helm of a ship made of dead peoples nails. Some of his children will: devour Odin (Fenrir, the giant wolf), kill the thunder god, Thor and poison the earth (Jormungand, also known as The Midgard Serpant), and help lead the war against the Gods (Hel, ruler of Helheim, the realm of the dead). He's also the father of Sleipnir the eight legged horse and Vali and Narfi, the latter of whom is killed and has his guts used as rope to bind Loki in his punishment for aiding in the death of Baldur (God of joy and beauty).
